Sneak Peek

Several major projects are wrapping up in the ScratchCraft household. Here’s a little sneak peek of what you can expect to see in the coming days.

Details to follow! In the meantime, we are celebrating Virginia’s birthday this weekend. I believe there are lots of good things to come this year – interesting places to visit, creative projects to start and complete, good food to eat (including a birthday cake or two). Here’s to a happy birthday, Virginia.

Virginia's Birthday Gladiolas

34 and counting

Instead of dwelling on the past today (thinking about the nearly 20% of the past 365 days spent in a hospital room), we celebrated by doing what we love to do. We drank coffee, ate waffles, worked on some projects (of the scratchcraft variety), had lunch out, did a little shopping, watched a movie, worked on some more projects (of the household variety), and toasted to normal—to many more years to put under our belts (with homebrewed beer, of course). All in all, it was a perfect day.

One of my gifts included some exciting new bundles of wool (much better than a box of chocolates… although, I wouldn’t have turned that down, either).

So, to a new year. And, with New Years right around the corner, health and happiness to you all.

Rainy Day Fingerless Gloves + Mitts

Rainy Day Fingerless Gloves

After making a pair of these fun hand-warmers for a friend, Virginia decided she had to have a pair herself. She modified the pattern to be a fingerless mitten (instead of glove) so she didn’t have to worry about her ring(s) getting caught up in the fabric.

Both pairs are made with bits of worsted-weight alpaca yarn (a few different brands). And, technically, these are more “cloudy” than “rainy” and the apple trees have all be picked clean. If you don’t know what I’m referring to, you’ll have to see the original pattern by Elli Stubenrauch (Elliphantom Knits).

Still plenty cute.
