Morrison Wrap & Scarf

Morrison Wrap and Scarf

This gorgeous and lush design includes options for both the wrap and a scarf version. Knit with sumptuous Blue Sky Alpaca’s Metalico, it would look great dressed up or down and it looks much more complex than it is to knit!

Pattern offers both charted and written instructions.

Continuing my series of scarves and wraps named after my favorite female authors, this wrap is named after Toni Morrison, whose work is so powerful, and so profound. Her books are not easy reads, or light stories, but are life changing and enduring.

Yoshimoto Scarf

To continue my small series of scarves inspired by some of my favorite female authors, this design is inspired by Banana Yoshimoto and the delightful way she heartens us to appreciate with our senses simple things; a cup of tea, a wooden floor, hot noodle soup or an elegant and soft knitted scarf.

The yarn I used for this scarf is a luxuriously soft yarn from Blue Sky Alpacas, called Royal. It is 100% alpaca, and I used the Antique Black color (#705).

Since it requires only one skein of this luxurious yarn it would make a great and pretty quick gift for someone special, or yourself!

Woven Scarves

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of seeing fiber get transformed into something that is not only beautiful, but also useful. Virginia continues to explore the various ways of doing that. Over the last couple of weeks, she has worked on a couple of simple, but elegant scarves. These are both woven on her rigid heddle loom – such a simple machine, but the possibilities for creation (even with just a basic weave) are seemingly boundless. In the case of these two recent projects, different yarns were used for both the weft and the warp, the last one using some of my handspun yarn.
