Working on this wrap is a beautiful tactile textile meditation. The yarn is absolutely stunning and the colors just sing in every stitch. The drape and luxurious feel are unparalleled and this wrap is certain to become a treasured heirloom. Knitting with silk requires a bit more attention and that invitation to slow down makes this wrap a perfect project for a daily stitching meditation. Of course it’s gorgeous to wear, too!

Morrison Wrap & Scarf

Morrison Wrap and Scarf

This gorgeous and lush design includes options for both the wrap and a scarf version. Knit with sumptuous Blue Sky Alpaca’s Metalico, it would look great dressed up or down and it looks much more complex than it is to knit!

Pattern offers both charted and written instructions.

Wrap measures 80×21 inches blocked. It used almost all of 7 skeins. To be on the safe side, you might consider purchasing 8. Shown in color Jade 1631.

Continuing my series of scarves and wraps named after my favorite female authors, this wrap is named after Toni Morrison, whose work is so powerful, and so profound. Her books are not easy reads, or light stories, but are life changing and enduring.

Miles of Crochet

A very audible sigh of relief was heard in the ScratchCraft household when the final loop was made on this piece.

Tropical Stripe Wrap

Twenty-four skeins of Spindrift were used to crochet this luxuriously substantial wrap. Let’s see, that’s 24 x 115 = approximately 2,760 yards of yarn, or about 1.57 miles of spun wool. That’s a lot of crochet (although, we have been spending some quality time in front of the television, to help the miles go by quicker).

Virginia used a pattern by Kathy Merrick, called “Tropical Stripe Wrap” in the book Crochet in Color, deciding to play with 11 different colors of yarn.

And, as this is a shop model for the local yarn store,  we’ll have to wait a bit before enjoying being wrapped in all that wooly goodness.
